Installing Access Server (UNIX and Linux)

About this task

Note: When configuring to any LDAP mode, or configuring from an LDAP mode to non-LDAP mode, a new installation is required. User credentials and access data cannot be migrated between different methods of management.

Procedure

  1. Log on to your UNIX or Linux® machine with the account you are using for the Access Server installation.
  2. Copy the installation file for your platform from the DVD or download it from the IBM® Web site.
  3. Make the installation program executable.
  4. Start the installation with the following command:
    ./<installation_binary_name>
    where <installation_binary_name> is the name of the installation file.
  5. Press Enter on the Introduction screen.
  6. Enter the absolute path to your installation directory or press Enter to accept the default directory.

    The directory that you specify must be owned by the account you are using for the installation. If the installation program cannot create the directory, you are prompted to specify a different directory.

  7. Follow the instructions on the screen to navigate through the license agreement. Enter 1 to accept the license agreement.
  8. Follow the instructions on the screen to configure LDAP with one of the following options.
    None (Standard Mode)
    Use of an LDAP directory is not enabled. Access Server manages all user credentials and access data.
    LDAP Authentication Only
    The LDAP directory is used for authentication only. All user credentials are managed in the LDAP directory and the access data is managed locally on Access Server.
    LDAP Authentication and Authorization
    All user credentials and access data are managed in the LDAP directory.
    LDAP CHCCLP Embedded
    A CHCCLP-only mode (no Access Server service). CHCCLP uses an embedded Access Server to communicate with the LDAP server. All user credentials and access data are managed in the LDAP directory.
  9. Specify the port number to communicate with Management Console and press Enter.
  10. Enter the absolute path to your user data folder or press Enter to accept the default directory
  11. Review the installation summary and press Enter to start the installation.
  12. Press Enter to exit the installation after the installation is complete.
    After you have installed Access Server, you must complete both of the following tasks in the order they are listed before you can log in to Management Console for the first time:
    • Start Access Server.
    • Create an Access Server user account.
