Creating a database backup

After you have enabled log retention you must create a backup of each DB2® LUW database you will use with CDC Replication.

Use the logarchmeth1 parameter in DB2 for LUW version 10.1 or later (or the logretain parameter for all earlier versions of DB2 LUW) to enable log retention. You must then create a backup for each database that you intend to use for replication. Before issuing the database backup command at the DB2 for LUW command line, you must ensure that there are no users connected to the database. A database backup is also required if you are enabling log retention after adding a partition to a DPF environment on your CDC Replication source system.
