Installing the Classic Data Architect

To install IBMInfoSphere Classic Data Architect (CDA),IBM® InfoSphere® you extract an installation zip package and run IBM Installation Manager.

Before you begin

If you installed an earlier beta version or GA version of Classic Data Architect Version 11.3, you must uninstall it first. See Uninstalling the Classic Data Architect.

Ensure that your client computer meets the following minimum system requirements:

Memory
1024 MB.
Disk space
800 MB for both IBM Installation Manager and the Classic Data Architect.

Procedure

  1. Download the installation image CDA_v11.3.23_1166_Windows.zip from IBM Fix Central.
  2. Unzip the installation package to a temporary directory.
  3. Run the installation program:
    Windows
    Change to the temporary directory and run install.exe to install as an administrator. To install as a non-administrator, run userinst.exe .
    Linux®
    Change to the temporary directory and run ./install to install as an administrator. To install as a non-administrator, run ./userinst .
    Note: The Classic Data Architect is installed by IBM Installation Manager, which is automatically installed if it is not already installed. During the installation of IBM Installation Manager, the process might seem to stop at the Finalizing Eclipse stage. Wait and the process will eventually finish.
  4. Proceed through the Installation Manager wizard.

What to do next

You can launch the product:

Windows
Click Start > Programs > IBM Classic Data Architect > IBM Classic Data Architect V11.3.
Linux
Use the following commands:
cd install_path/eclipse
      ./eclipse

The default installation path is under the /opt/ibm directory.
