Replicating to databases in an AlwaysOn availability group

CDC Replication supports databases that are contained in an AlwaysOn availability group in two deployment topologies.

  • The CDC Replication target is deployed on a shared clustered disk and added as a dependency to the AlwaysOn availability group. In this case, the CDC Replication configuration is similar that of a source database that is contained in an AlwaysOn availability group.
  • The CDC Replication target is deployed remotely from the AlwaysOn cluster. This deployment topology is very similar to the remote apply deployment for databases that are not involved in AlwaysOn.
