The following Microsoft SQL Server configuration settings should be considered prior to installing the CDC Replication Engine for Microsoft SQL Server:

Transaction log backup plan
The CDC Replication Engine for Microsoft SQL Server supports backups of your transaction logs with the Microsoft SQL Server Maintenance Plan or with a manual process in Microsoft SQL Server.
Database partition changes
CDC Replication does not support database partition changes such as adding, removing, or moving except as documented for specific environments.
Remote target apply
If you are deploying the CDC Replication Engine for Microsoft SQL Server as a target, you have the option of installing the product on a system that is remote from the target database.
Microsoft SQL Server table-level considerations
The following Microsoft SQL Server table-level requirements should be considered prior to installing the CDC Replication Engine for Microsoft SQL Server:
Replicating the rowversion data type
CDC Replication supports source and target tables that contain the rowverison data type.
TCP/IP and ports
You must enable the TCP/IP network protocols in Microsoft SQL Server and specify a static port.
Database services
Microsoft SQL Server services usually start automatically but must be running during the installation and operation of CDC Replication.
SQL Server replication
The CDC Replication Engine for Microsoft SQL Server requires that you enable Microsoft SQL Server replication in your database to ensure the data required by CDC Replication is available in the database transaction log.
Recovery model
In Microsoft SQL Server, configure your recovery model to be either Full or Bulk-Logged.
Database backup
Perform a full database backup in SQL Server to start database logging in the Full or Bulk-Logged recovery model.
