Db2 for LUW

The following DB2® for LUW configuration settings should be considered prior to installing the CDC Replication Engine for Db2® Database:

Required installation type
Database partition changes
Enabling database log retention
Creating a database backup
After you have enabled log retention you must create a backup of each DB2 LUW database you will use with CDC Replication.
Remote log reading
You can deploy your source installation of CDC Replication on a system that is remote from your source database.
Remote target apply
You can deploy your target installation of the CDC Replication Engine for Db2 Database on a system that is remote from your target database.
Supported table types
The CDC Replication Engine for Db2 Database can replicate row-organized regular tables with indexes in a Db2 for LUW database. Regular tables are described as "general purpose" by the Db2 for LUW documentation.
Identity columns
There are a number of issues to consider when replicating the two kinds of DB2 LUW identity columns that the CDC Replication Engine for Db2 Database supports: those which are GENERATED ALWAYS and those which are GENERATED BY DEFAULT.
Replicating data in a Db2 pureScale environment
When targeting a pureScale® environment with CDC Replication, the load directory must be accessible to all members in your pureScale environment on your CDC Replication target system.
Replicating data in a Database Partitioning Feature (DPF) environment
The CDC Replication Engine for Db2 Database version 6.5.1 and later now supports the replication of change data from a DPF environment on a source system to any CDC Replication version 6.5.1 or later target deployment.

Replicating data in partitioned tables
CDC Replication supports Db2 tables that are partitioned by range. These tables are sometimes known as range-partitioned tables.
Replicating data in a d Cloud environment
When sourcing from a d Cloud environment with CDC Replication, the minimum requirement is Enterprise Edition.
