Upgrading subscriptions to use auto-encoding mode
If you are planning to upgrade your datastore from CDC Replication version 6.3 or earlier to CDC Replication version 6.5 or later and you want to use the auto-encoding functionality that is available for MBCS character data, you are required to manually upgrade subscriptions that you created with CDC Replication version 6.3 and earlier.
About this task
To use auto-encoding mode for subscriptions created with CDC Replication version 6.3 and earlier:
- Upgrade your target datastore to CDC Replication version 6.5 or later.
- Upgrade your source datastore to CDC Replication version 6.5 or later.
- Upgrade subscriptions that were created with CDC Replication version 6.3 by following the procedure outlined in this section.
For more information on upgrade procedures, see the CDC Replication documentation for your database platform.
All subscriptions created with a new installation of CDC Replication version 6.5 or later (with the exception of the CDC Replication Engine for Db2® for i) will automatically use auto-encoding mode.
