Explanation

A log record out-of-sequence error was detected while reading the IMS log.

This error occurs when merging changes from multiple IMS systems into a log stream and the log reader finds a log record for one IMS system that is older than the merge point for another IMS system.

The source server deactivates the log stream and ends the affected subscriptions in error to avoid potential data integrity issues at the target.

This situation can occur when one of the IMS systems was not configured with the partner program exit, or the partner program exit was unable to notify the source server when it started. It is critical for all IMS systems to be set up correctly with the partner program exit and so that they notify the source server during IMS startup processing.

Review all IMS source systems to ensure that they are configured with the partner program exit and successfully communicating with the source server. When the source server has a primary change stream active and one or more of the IMS systems that is associated with this stream is started, the IMS system should issue the CECZ0755I message, which indicates that it successfully notified the source server during IMS startup.

After you ensure that the IMS systems are communicating with the source server, you might need to reload the targets for the affected subscriptions to avoid data integrity issues at the target.

Sometimes when this problem occurs, it is not related to IMS systems not communicating properly with the source server but is instead an internal error. In this case, gather the following information and contact IBM Software Support:

  • Output from a DBRC LIST.LOG ALL that includes all the IMS systems that are included in the log stream ordering
  • The job log from the problem period for all IMS systems that are included in the log stream ordering
  • The job log for the source server from the problem period
  • The diagnostic log for the source server from the problem period
