Vehicle Data Hub

Vehicles connect to IBM® IoT Connected Vehicle Insights through the Vehicle Data Hub (VDH) component. The VDH retrieves and processes and data and acts as a system dispatcher.

Overview

The VDH is a front-end interface component of IBM IoT Connected Vehicle Insights that retrieves and processes data from devices by using supported protocols, data models, and network connections. When data is received by the VDH from connected vehicles, the data is normalized and then integrated with asset information, such as vehicle or driver data. From the VDH, the vehicle data is then dispatched to other components, such as Context Mapping and Driver Behavior.

The VDH is divided into client, process, and adapter interface layers, as outlined in the following diagram:

Configuring the VDH

To start receiving and processing data from connected vehicle sensors and devices, you need to configure the Vehicle Data Hub (VDH) component of IBM® IoT Connected Vehicle Insights.

Use the internal and external URLs that are provided in your welcome pack to connect to the VDH component.

Detailed information and guidance can be provided by IBM Services. For more information, contact your local IBM Representative.

Developing the VDH

The Vehicle Data Hub (VDH) component can be customized to retrieve data from your connected vehicle sensors and other environmental data sources. You can develop and deploy plug-ins for the client, process, or adapter layers of the VDH.

To customize the VDH and develop custom plug-ins, information and guidance can be provided by IBM Services. For more information, contact your local IBM Representative.
