Installing Managed File Transfer

Managed File Transfer is installed as a component of IBM® MQ on AIX®, Linux®, and Windows, and on z/OS®. Managed File Transfer remains as a separate product on IBM i.

Before you begin

Before you install Managed File Transfer, check that your system meets both the hardware and software requirements of the product. See System Requirements for IBM MQ.

For all platforms, you must have one IBM MQ queue manager available in your Managed File Transfer network to use as the coordination queue manager.

Note: If you are migrating or upgrading an existing IBM MQ installation, you must update database logger instances before other parts of the Managed File Transfer network so that these instances can correctly process the latest versions of the transfer log messages that they receive.

Procedure

  1. Decide which Managed File Transfer components to install.
    Managed File Transfer can be installed as four different options, depending on your operating system and overall setup. These options are Managed File Transfer Agent, Managed File Transfer Service, Managed File Transfer Logger, or Managed File Transfer Tools.
