Migrating from earlier unsupported releases of IBM MQ for z/OS

IBM® MQ for z/OS® 9.2.0 supports migration of queue managers that previously ran at IBM MQ for z/OS 9.0.0 or later.

Migrating from a release earlier than IBM MQ for z/OS 9.0

Migrating from a release earlier than IBM MQ for z/OS 9.0, for example, IBM MQ for z/OS 8.0 or IBM WebSphere® MQ for z/OS 7.1, requires a multi-stage migration.

Firstly, you must migrate the earlier release of IBM MQ to IBM MQ for z/OS 9.0 or IBM MQ for z/OS 9.1, following the instructions given in the documentation for that release. You can then migrate to IBM MQ for z/OS 9.2 following the instructions in Migrating IBM MQ for z/OS - order of tasks.

Important: Ensure that your system is stable at IBM MQ for z/OS 9.0 or IBM MQ for z/OS 9.1, before migrating to IBM MQ for z/OS 9.2, so that you have a system to revert to, if necessary.
