z/OS: WLM/DNS no longer supported
WLM/DNS is no longer supported by the z/OS® Communications Server, so the queue manager attributes DNSWLM and DNSGROUP are no longer used in IBM® MQ for z/OS Version 8.0.
z/OS Communications Server
Support for WLM/DNS as an IP address routing mechanism is no longer available in the z/OS Communications Server from z/OS V1R11 onwards.
Queue manager attributes no longer used
The following queue manager attributes no longer cause a WLM/DNS registration to be attempted by an INDISP(GROUP) TCP listener.
- DNSGROUP
- The name of the group that the TCP listener handling inbound transmissions for the queue-sharing group joined when using Workload Manager for Dynamic Domain Name Services support (WLM/DNS).
If this name was blank, the queue-sharing group name was used.
The PCF parameter identifier for this attribute is MQCA_DNS_GROUP
- DNSWLM
- Whether the TCP listener that handles inbound transmissions for the queue-sharing group registers with WLM/DNS:
- NO
- The listener is not to register with Workload Manager.
This is the queue manager's initial default value and the only value supported in IBM MQ for z/OS Version 8.0.
- YES
- The listener is to register with Workload Manager.
This value is not supported in IBM MQ for z/OS Version 8.0 and if already set will result in message CSQX093I being issued by the CHINIT.
The PCF parameter identifier for this attribute is MQIA_DNS_WLM
Alternate support
Sysplex Distributor can be used as an alternate feature instead of WLM/DNS for generic IP address routing. For more information, see Establishing a TCP connection Using Sysplex Distributor.
