Accessing product repositories for installing IBM HTTP Server for z/OS
WebSphere® Application Server products are distributed as IBM® Installation Manager repositories.
About this task
Choose one of the following options to access the product repositories:
To install from web-based product and service repositories, complete the following steps.
You can install both the initial product and the latest fix-pack level from the online repositories.
- Create a master.password file that contains text to be used for an encryption key, and place the file in your Installation Manager file system. The recommended location is /InstallationManager/master.password.
Edit and submit the GIN3CRED Installation Manager sample job to create an
im.ssf credentials file that contains your IBM user ID and password.
If you use a firewall proxy to access the IBM website, the credentials file also contains the firewall credentials.
To install from local product and service repositories:
- Edit and submit the GIN3CFS Installation Manager sample job to allocate and mount a local repository file system at the /InstallationManager/repo location.
For the initial product level, download the following file from the ShopzSeries website, or
copy it from the product media to your z/OS system. If you
use FTP, be sure to transfer the file in binary format.
- Initial repository for IBM HTTP Server for z/OS.
Place the files in the /InstallationManager/repo directory. You do not need to decompress the files, but make sure the Installation Manager user ID or group can read them.
If fix packs are available, download the fix pack repository from IBM Fix Central, and copy the
repository to your z/OS system.
In general, you need only the latest fix pack repository for each of the following items. If you use FTP, be sure to transfer the files in binary format.
