Storage on IAS M4002-001
IAS M4002-001 includes three SD530 nodes based on DP Intel Skylake server:
- The three nodes are identically configured with 16 cores 2.1GHz Intel 4110 and 192GB of memory.
- Data storage drives: Each node supports four 2.5" NVMe (U.2) hot-swappable drives accessible from the front of a D2 enclosure.
- OS boot drives: Each node supports 480GB of OS boot storage based on two 480GB M.2 drives in mirror on M.2 enablement kits that contains Marvell 88SE9230 SATA controller. These devices are not hot swappable and do not support encryption.

User data storage reliability
M4002-001 appliance includes 12 NVMe SSDs. Each node exposes all drives as JBOD to GPFS. Each drive has a single mirror in another drive in a different node, operating in a 2-copy mode. There is no dedicated spare drives in the system.
Storage encryption
The NVMe SSD drives that are used for user data are self-encrypting drives and data-at-rest encryption is always enabled by default. For more information, see Storage hardware encryption for M4002-001 model
Other storage types
Tiered storage is not supported on this model.
You can configure NFS for external file storage as described in Managing external storage with the storage_setup script
