Verifying network connectivity

You can verify that the Call Home configuration is correct and that your network infrastructure will allow the Call Home service to communicate with the IBM support servers.

Procedure

Use one of the following approaches:

  • Log in to the IAS web console and click Settings > Call Home > Test Connectivity button.

    As a result, you can see the status and the time stamp of the test.

  • Log in to the active host of the IBM system as the appliance user by running:
    [apuser@node0101-fab ~]# curl -X POST -H "Content-Type: application/json" -k https://localhost:8993/testconnectivity/
    The command triggers the Call Home service to establish communication with the IBM support servers.

    Example output:

    If you tail the Call Home log file /opt/ibm/appliance/storage/platform/ras/callhome/log/callHome/callHome.0.log on the node, you see the following:
    Mon Jul 24 23:05:03 UTC 2017 INFO: Connectivity Verification: Alias: Edge_Gateway_1, Host:  esupport.ibm.com, IP:    129.42.56.189 : SUCCESS
