When you add a target, you specify the database where you want to replicate data, set up
connections to the database, and then enable the database for replication.
Before you begin
- Activate the IBM® Data Replication for
Availability license.
- Have a permanent hostname to identify the target. For example, on IBM Integrated Analytics System, add the target by using the floating hostname and
not a node-specific hostname.
- Generate and upload a target security
certificate and update the Db2 SSL
certificate.
Procedure
-
From the Data Replication screen, click Add Target.
-
On the Add Target screen, enter the credentials for connecting to the
selected target database: Host name or IP address and port number, and the user name and password
for connecting.
-
To configure the source to trust the target security certificate, ensure that you have
generated a certificate and uploaded it to the target, then click Trust
Target.
Note: The hostname or IP address that you provide for the target system must match the Common Name
value that was provided in the SSL certificate that was uploaded to the target.
-
After you see a Success message confirming the trust target step, click
Test connection.
-
After a successful connection is confirmed, click Next.
-
Confirm your permission to make changes to the target database and click
OK.
Enablement of the target database begins. This process might take several minutes. If you exit
the browser while initialization is occurring the process continues. You can view the progress from
the Manage Targets page.
Results
When the target is enabled, you can add another target, add a replication set, or return to the
Data Replication screen.
When you add a target, the console:
- Creates IBM MQ objects at the target system to receive
replicated data.
- Creates control tables on the target database that are used to save configuration information
about the replication environment and monitoring data.
