Platform-level backups
IBM recommends to do platform-level backups to protect the system configuration files and log files from a physical or logical disaster event.
- Platform-level backups back up only configuration files but not Db2 data.
- Platform-level backup is only a part of disaster recovery recommendation.
- Platform-level backup is not IBM's disaster recovery strategy.
- IBM recommends to do a host backup before you use apupgrade.
Components supported for backup
- Apnetworking
- LDAP
- NTP
- Apsecurity
- Call home
- MTM and serial number
- Web console
- System history
- Lift
The host backup command
Run the host_backup -h command as the apuser from any node on the system.
The destination path is /opt/ibm/appliance/storage/platform.
This path includes subdirectories of the tar files with the time stamp at the time when the backup is taken. The tar file includes the configuration files of all the nodes that are stored individually.

The following options are available:
- Change the directory to opt/ibm/appliance/storage/platform
-
[apuser@node0101 platform]#ls host_backup_20180319150024 host_backup_20180319150024.tar.gz logs
- Change directory to the backup folder host_backup_20180319150024
-
[apuser@node0101 home]$ cd /opt/ibm/appliance/storage/platform/host_backup_20180319150024
- The configuration files for each node are stored separately
-
[apuser@node0101 host_backup_20180319150024]$ ls node0101 node0102 node0103
