Configuring EMC NetWorker

IBM® has certified Dell EMC NetWorker Module for Databases and Applications (NMDA) and the EMC NetWorker client for integration with Integrated Analytics System for backup and restore operations.

If you are planning to use more than one IAS appliance with the same EMC NetWorker Server, please contact IBM support.

EMC NetWorker is supported since IAS version 1.0.9.0. The certified versions are:
  • EMC NetWorker Module for Databases and Applications (NMDA) version 9.2.1.1, 18.2, 19.1.1 and 19.8.0.1.
  • EMC NetWorker client version 9.2.1.2, 18.2, 19.1 and 19.8.0.1.
To be able to use EMC NetWorker with IAS, you need to provide EMC NetWorker client and NMDA tar.gz files. You can purchase them from Dell website.
The installation and configuration process differs depending on the IAS version that you use:
IAS 1.0.12.0 and later
  • For fresh installations, use appkg_install command to install and configure the EMC NetWorker software. The command also allows you to manage the installed client. For more information, see Managing EMC NetWorker client with appkg_install command.
  • If you already have EMC NetWorker configured, and are planning to upgrade from versions earlier than IAS 1.0.12.0:
    1. Back up your existing configuration using emc_client settings --backup, as described in Backing up or restoring EMC NetWorker client and NMDA configuration.
    2. Contact IBM support to assist you in filling out the helm chart.
    3. Run IAS upgrade.
