Disabling an appliance node

If you need to add or replace a node or replace a component on a node, you can disable it for the time of service works, so that the system does not report errors.

About this task

When a node is disabled:
  • It is no longer used to host Db2 Warehouse containers.
  • It is still monitored.
  • No alerts are sent for it.
  • No automatic recovery is performed.
Note:
  • Disabling a node when db is running produces a short outage lasting a few minutes.
  • It is not possible to disable nodes when appliance application is starting, stopping or recovering.

Procedure

  • Use the web console. On the main page, click Monitor > System and then the Hardware tab. From the graphical image, select a node that you want to disable and then click Disable.
  • Use the ap node disable hadomainX.nodeY command, where X is the HA domain number, and Y is the node number in that HA domain.
