Storage hardware encryption on systems with integrated rack
Starting with IIAS version 1.0.14.0, you can enable encryption for the appliance storage on IBM FlashSystem 900 storage devices, and manage the encryption keys using IBM Security Key Life Cycle Manager (ISKLM).
IIAS appliance sends the encryption key to an IBM Security Key Lifecycle Manager (ISKLM) server in your environment. You can enable the encryption by using the apesklm utility.
Process of storage hardware encryption differs depending on the IIAS version that you use:
- IIAS 1.0.15.0 and later
-
- To successfully set up and enable hardware key encryption on IIAS 1.0.15.0, ensure that all the prerequisites provided in Storage hardware encryption prerequisites are met.
- Follow the steps in Enabling storage hardware encryption with apesklm in IIAS 1.0.15.0 and later to enable encryption for all storage device or a specific device.
- For more detailed information on the apesklm utility, see IIAS 1.0.15.0 and later apesklm command.
- IIAS 1.0.14.0
-
- Ensure that all the prerequisites provided in Storage hardware encryption prerequisites are met to set up and enable hardware key encryption on IIAS 1.0.14.0.
- Follow the steps in Enabling storage hardware encryption with apesklm in IIAS 1.0.14.0 to enable encryption for supplied storage type or device.
- For more on the apesklm command and its 1.0.14.0 options, see IIAS 1.0.14.0 apesklm command.
