Customizing host table entries

You can add, edit, or remove host table entries. The host table supports both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.

You can use either IBM Navigator for i or the character-based interface to view and customize host table entries.
To customize the host table entries by using the character-based interface, follow these steps:
  1. On the command line, type CFGTCP (Configure TCP/IP command) and press Enter to access the Configure TCP/IP menu.
  2. Select Option 10 (Work with TCP/IP Host Table Entries), and then press Enter.
  3. Perform any of the following tasks to customize the host table:
    • To add a host table entry, type 1 (Add) for the Opt prompt at the first line, and then press Enter.
    • To change a host name, type 2 (Change) next to the line you want to change, and then press Enter.
    • To remove a host table entry, type 4 (Remove) next to the line you want to remove, and then press Enter.
    • To rename a host table entry, type 7 (Rename) next to the line you want to rename, and then press Enter.
  4. After you finish all the changes, press Enter.

The Merge TCP/IP Host Table (MRGTCPHT) command is used to merge host names, IP addresses, and text comment entries from a physical file member or integrated file system object into the local host table. For more information about MRGTCPHT, see Merge TCP/IP Host Table (MRGTCPHT).
