Creating a temporary scheduled job
At times it might be necessary to run a scheduled job now or in the future in addition to its normal schedule. Use the Submit Job using Job Scheduler (SBMJOBJS) command, option 7 from Work with Jobs display, or the Run option from IBM Navigator for i. It might also be necessary to process only a portion of the commands in the command list to set up this special run.
The SBMJOBJS command allows you to specify the Starting and Ending command sequences. For instance, JOBA has five commands, sequences 10 through 50. You can specify on the SBMJOBJS command to start with sequence 20 and end with sequence 40. This bypasses sequence 10 and 50.
IBM Navigator for i allows you to select a starting command within the command list and an ending command.
To run a special version of a scheduled job with IBM Navigator for i, follow these steps:
- Expand Work Management.
- Expand Advanced Job Scheduler.
- Expand Scheduled Jobs and select Scheduled Jobs to list jobs.
- Select the scheduled job and click Run.
- Specify whether to run the job now or in the future.
- Select the starting and ending commands.
