When you restore your information to a different system or an upgraded
system, you might have a different console type on the target system.
After you have restored user information, you need to create
a new controller and device description. Follow these steps:
- Type WRKHDWRSC *LWS and press the Enter
key.
You are shown the Work with Local Work Station Resources display.
- Type a 5 (Work with controller descriptions)
in the Opt column next to the name of the first workstation controller and
press the Enter key.

Note: The first workstation controller might not be CTL01.
- Type a
1 in the Opt column and press the Enter
key. You are shown the Create Controller Description display.
- For the New controller description prompt,
type the name that you want for the console. Press the Enter key.
Note: If
you want to use the name that you had on your old system, you must first delete
the device configuration name and then re-create it.
- Use the Create Device Description (Display) (CRTDEVDSP) command
to create a device description for the console.
