Remove an NVMe from the existing NVMe password protection policy

This section describes how to remove a protected NVMe from the NVMe password protection policy on the IBM i logical partition.

There are two scenarios where this function is used:
  1. The NVMe is to be removed from the current NVMe password protection policy.
  2. The NVMe is in a locked state because the password in the NVMe does not match the password stored in the PKS of the IBM i logical partition. As a result, all of the namespaces under the NVMe are read/write protected.

Follow these steps to remove an NVMe from the existing NVMe password protection policy:

  1. On the Use System Service Tools (SST) display, select Work with Disk Units
  2. On the Work with Disk Units display, select Work with disk configuration
  3. On the Work with Disk Configuration display, select Work with Locking Policy
  4. On the Work with Locking Policy display, select Remove device from a Locking Policy

After the above steps have been completed the password for the NVMe password protection policy is removed from the specified NVMe. That NVMe is no longer password protected.
