Source type

The SRCTYPE parameter specifies the source type for a member in a source file (ADDPFM and CHGPFM commands).

The source type determines the syntax checker, prompting, and formatting that are used for the member. If you specify a unique source type other than the types that are supported on the IBM i operating system, such as COBOL and RPG, you must provide the programming to handle the unique type.

If the source type is changed, it is only reflected when the member is subsequently opened; members currently open are not affected.
