Recovering an independent auxiliary storage pool

Run this procedure if one of the following situations is true.

Independent auxiliary storage pools (ASPs) are called independent disk pools in IBM Navigator for i.

  • The service representative replaced a failed disk unit in an independent ASP. If a disk unit is not parity protected or mirrored, when you lose that disk unit in an ASP, you must recover all the information in that ASP. The information in other ASPs on your system is not affected.
  • The system reassigned sectors on a disk unit but object damage occurred.
  • You are running a full system recovery and were directed to this procedure from a recovery checklist.

The independent ASP that you recover must be in the Available state to run the restore.
