To prepare for and perform a data migration from either a source system that supports IBM® i 7.5 or a source system that does not support IBM i 7.5, follow these general procedures.

Before you begin these tasks, be sure you have completed the necessary planning. You can migrate your data by using one of these paths:

If you can load IBM i 7.5 on your source system, perform these procedures.

  1. Preparing for the migration with IBM i 7.5 on the source system.
  2. Completing the migration with IBM i 7.5 on the source system.

If you cannot load IBM i 7.5 on your source system, perform these procedures.

  1. Preparing for the migration from a IBM i model that does not support IBM i 7.5
  2. Completing the migration from a IBM i model that does not support IBM i 7.5
