IBM System Manager for i (5770SM1) and IBM Managed System Services for i (5770MG1) products are withdrawn

In IBM® i 7.5, IBM System Manager for i (5770SM1) and IBM Managed System Services for i (5770MG1) products are withdrawn. A subset of the SM1 commands will be moved to XPF. Any programs that library-qualify these commands with library QSMU will need to change to specify library QSYS (or remove "QSMU/").

The commands shipped in libraries QSMU and QSVMSS are not deleted.

Only the QSYS versions of the following SM1 commands are updated when IBM i 7.5 (5770SS1 *BASE) is installed:

  • CHGPRDOBJD Change Product Object Description
  • CPYPTFSAVF Copy PTF to Save File
  • CRTPRDDFN Create Product Definition
  • CRTPRDLOD Create Product Load
  • CRTPTF Create Program Temporary Fix
  • CRTPTFPKG Create PTF Package
  • DLTPRDDFN Delete Product Definition
  • DLTPRDLOD Delete Product Load
  • GENLICKEY Generate License Key
  • HLDPTF Hold Program Temporary Fix
  • PKGPRDOPT Package Product Option
  • RLSPTF Release Program Temporary Fix
  • WRKPTF Work with PTF
  • WRKSPTPRD Work with Supported Products
Note: Installing the IBM i 7.4 5770SM1 product on an IBM i 7.5 partition will cause the 7.5 version of these commands in QSYS to be overwritten with the 7.4 commands.
Note: Deleting the IBM i 5770SM1 product from an IBM i 7.5 partition will cause the 7.5 version of these commands in QSYS to be deleted.
Note: Product 5770SM1 should be deleted (DLTLICPGM) prior to upgrading to IBM i 7.5.
Note: In a Db2® Mirror environment, delete the product from both nodes while replication is active prior to upgrading either node to IBM i 7.5.
