Working with dynamically mounted file systems
You can use the Dynamic Mount Information function to see which dynamically mounted file systems are currently mounted, display their properties, and unmount any of them.
To use this function, follow these steps:
In IBM® Navigator for i
- In IBM Navigator for i, under theIBM i Management node, expand .
- Click Integrated File System.
- Select Dynamic Mount Information from Actions list.
- The Dynamic Mount Information window opens, listing all the file
systems that are currently mounted. The window displays the name of
the mounted file system, the remote system that the file system is
mounted over, and the type of mount. The types of mount supported
are user-defined file system (UDFS), Network File System version 2
(NFSv2), Network File System version 3 (NFSv3), and Network File System
version 4 (NFSv4). You can choose to unmount any of the file systems
listed and view the properties of a particular file system.Note: NFSv4 is only available starting in V6R1,
- To unmount a file system, select the file system from the list and click Unmount. A Confirm Unmount window opens. Verify whether the file system displayed is the one you want to unmount. You can clear items that you no longer want to unmount. Then click Unmount to confirm the operation.
- To view the properties of a file system, select the file system
from the list and click Properties. A Mount

- For a user-defined file system (UDFS), the Mount Properties window contains a General tab. It shows the following properties: name, the path where the UDFS is mounted over, type of mount, time of mount, whether the file system is read only, and whether it allows user and group settings.
- For a Network File System (NFS), the Mount Properties window contains a General tab and an Advanced tab. The General tab shows the following properties: name, remote server name, the path where the NFS is mounted over, type of mount, time of mount, whether the file system is read only, and whether it allows user and group settings. The Advanced tab shows the following properties: mount type, time out value, read buffer size, write buffer size, retry attempts number, retransmission attempts number, regular object attribute minimum and maximum time, folder attribute minimum and maximum time, whether to force refresh of attributes on open, and whether to allow attribute and name caching.
