Specifying message queues

You can either specify a cluster message queue or a failover message queue. These message queues help you determine causes of failures in your Start of changePowerHA®End of change environment.

Start of change A cluster message queue is used for cluster-level messages and provides one message, which controls all cluster resource groups (CRGs) failing over to a specific node. A failover message queue is used for CRG-level messages and provides one message for each CRG that is failing over.

Note: You can also configure a cluster to use a cluster message queue by specifying the message queue while running the Create Cluster wizard.

Start of changeTo specify a cluster message queue using the PowerHA graphical interface, follow these steps:End of change

  1. Start of changeIn a Web browser, enter http://mysystem:2001, where mysystem is the host name of the system.End of change
  2. Start of changeLog on to the system with your user profile and password.End of change
  3. Start of changeClick PowerHA from the IBM® Navigator for i window.End of change
  4. Start of changeOn the PowerHA page, select Properties ... from the Select Action menu.End of change
  5. Start of changeClick Edit in the Advanced section of the Properties page.End of change
  6. Start of changeSpecify the cluster message queue information in the Cluster Message Queue field and click Save.End of change

Start of changeTo specify a failover message queue using the PowerHA graphical interface, complete these steps:End of change

  2. Log on to the system with your user profile and password.
  3. Start of changeClick PowerHA in the IBM Navigator for i window.End of change
  4. Start of changeOn the PowerHA page, click Cluster Resource Groups.End of change
  5. Start of changeOn the Cluster Resource Group page, select Properties ... from the context menu of the CRG for which you want a failover message queue. End of change
  6. Start of changeClick Edit in the Advanced section of the Properties page.End of change
  7. Start of changeSpecify the failover message queue information in the Failover Message Queue field and click Save.End of change
