Hardware requirements for switched disks

To use switched disks, you must have one or more IOAs that is assigned to an I/O pool. In an LPAR environment, you can switch the IOA that contains the independent switched disks between system partitions without having an expansion unit. The IOA must be assigned to an I/O pool.
