Viewing traffic for Service Interconnect edge gateways

You can view metrics about the traffic between applications and services, including external services, on Red Hat® Service Interconnect® gateways. You can view these metrics in the topology view of the IBM® Hybrid Cloud Mesh console or in Grafana.

To view charts that display the metrics, open the Red Hat Service Interconnect dashboard in Grafana.

To view the metrics for an application and a service, select the application from the App Name list and select the service from the Service Name list. The chart displays the traffic between the application and the service in real time, depending on the value that you select from the time picker.

By default, the dashboard refreshes every 10 seconds. To set the refresh frequency, select a time interval from the refresh interval menu.

The following metrics are available:
Table 1. Traffic metrics available in Grafana
Metric Description
App-To-Svc Total Bytes The total number of bytes transmitted between an application and a service, in both directions.
App-To-Svc Flow Count The total number of individual TCP connections from an application to a service.
Average Latency for an App-To-Svc The average delay in the transmission of data from an application to a service. Use this metric to help troubleshoot latency problems in your network. If your network is experiencing slow responsiveness, you can view this metric in relation to the total network latency to see the impact of the service.
