Using the IBM Hybrid Cloud Mesh console topology view
Use the Mesh console Topology view to visualize the key details and relationships between your locations, deployment environments, gateways, and associated applications and services.
Follow these steps to explore the topology view:
- Double-click to view the associated deployment environment. Different icons distinguish the different
types of deployment environments. The cluster icon indicates a cluster environment.
Click each of the icons to display the corresponding side windows for real-time details.
If you selected to display gateway connections, a connection line is displayed between locations that are connected by a gateway. The number on this line is the number of logical connections between the locations, deployment environments, partitions, or applications.
- Double-click the associated deployment environment icon to view the associated gateways. The page also displays the connection to the other locations and any associated partitions. Double-click the partitions to display the associated applications. Thick lines between gateways represent a connection between gateways. Click the gateway icon to display the gateway side window, which displays real-time gateway details.
- Double-click to view the associated port. Straight lines between application and service represent data
flow. The metric in milliseconds on the line is the average latency between the application and the
service. Dashed lines display relations between entities.
Click the data flow line between an application and service to display the application-to-service-connection side panel. The side panel displays real-time data insights and metrics for the application-to-service connection. For example, you can view the total number of bytes transmitted between an application and a service. For more information about the available metrics, see Metrics in the topology view.
- Click and select the Policy connections checkbox to display the existing policies. Policies display as dotted lines between the application and the services. The straight data flow line overlaps the dotted line displays when data flows between the application and the service.
Click and select from the displayed options to expand the view to include all resources in the hierarchy to the level selected. You can view associated locations, deployment environments, partitions, gateways, applications, and services. You can hover over the resources to view the tooltip information.
Expand the Managed drop down to view managed or unmanaged topology elements by clicking the corresponding option. Expand the Network Segment drop-down and select the corresponding network segment checkbox to filter the topology elements associated with the selected network segment.
You can also rearrange the topology elements by dragging the elements. Double-click twice on any element in the topology to collapse it. You can pinch zoom in or out from your laptop touchpad. You can also use the mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out.
