Guardium virtual machine is not accessible from the network
If the Guardium virtual machine is not accessible
from the network, run the command store network interface inventory
and restart the system.
Symptoms
You implemented a new Guardium system as a virtual machine and performed all the required initial network configuration. However, you cannot ping the system using the IP address and the system is not accessible in the network.
Causes
The MAC address assigned to the virtual machine by the virtual environment does not match the MAC address in Guardium.
Environment
The collector, aggregator, and central manager are affected.
Diagnosing the problem
To diagnose the problem, ping the IP address on a network.
Use the command ping<appliance's ip address>.
If it fails, show the MAC address for the system.
- Log in as user
cli
. - Run the command show network macs to show the MAC address stored in the Guardium configuration.
- From the administration utility for your virtual environment,
check the MAC address for the virtual machine.
- Open the VMWare Workstation.
- Right-click the virtual machine and select Settings or Properties to open the Virtual Machine Settings.
- Select Network Adapter under Hardware.
- Click Advanced to open the Network Adapter Advanced Settings.
- Compare the MAC address from steps 2 and 3.
Resolving the problem
To resolve the problem, complete the following steps.
- Log in to the Guardium system as user

. - Run the command store network interface inventory.
- Enter y to reset the NICs.
- Restart the system with the command restart system.
