Working with Classification Policies

Procedure

Open the Classification Policy Builder by navigating to Discover > Classifications > Classification Policy Builder.

Create a Classification Policy

Procedure

  1. Click New to open the Classification Policy Definition panel.
  2. Enter a unique name in the Name field.
  3. Enter a category in the Category field, and a classification in the Classification field. Both are required. Both are used to group and organize data on reports.
  4. Optionally enter a Description.
  5. Optionally enter comments. These can be entered at any time after the policy has been saved. See Comments.
  6. Click Edit Rules to define rules and their associated actions. See Define Classification Policy Rules for detailed instructions. It is recommended to use the Discover Sensitive Data scenario (Discover > End-to-End Scenario > Discover Sensitive Data) for modifying existing classification policies. Use the same Discover Sensitive Data scenario to create classification policy groups. Also, if groups have been created, they have to be explicitly selected.

Modify a Classification Policy

Procedure

  1. Select the classification policy to be modified, and do one of the following:
    • To modify policy rules, click Edit Rules and see Define Classification Policy Rules.
    • To modify any other element of the definition, click the Modify button.
  2. Type over any of the items as appropriate.
  3. Click Save to save any changes, and click Done when you are finished.

Clone a Classification Policy

Procedure
  1. Select the classification policy to be cloned, and click the Clone button.
  2. Type over any of the items as appropriate for the cloned policy. We recommend that you replace the default name for the clone, which is the name of the selected policy prefixed with Copy of.
  3. Click the Save Clone button to save the new classification policy. The policy will be re-displayed in the Classification Policy Definition panel.
