Licenses and entitlements

Your IBM® Guardium® Insights license determines the components and services that you are entitled to use.

License Types

There are multiple license options for IBM Guardium Insights. The following table shows current and legacy bundle offerings and the applications and product components included in each.

All of the licenses in the previous table entitle you to Red Hat® OpenShift® Container Platform, a prerequisite for the installation of IBM Cloud Pak for Security. Based on your license purchase, you can select IBM Cloud Pak for Security applications and integrated stand-alone options. IBM Security Guardium Insights currently a choice of entitlement between the following two storage abstraction layers, IBM Spectrum Fusion and OpenShift Data Foundation Essentials, under the following terms:
  • Additional Flat Entitlement
    Note: “Additional Flat Entitlement” means that regardless of the number of entitlements obtained to the Program, Licensee’s use of the listed program is limited to the number of entitlement(s) listed.
IBM Spectrum Fusion
  • Additional Flat Entitlement: 6 Terabtyes (TB) each of IBM Primary Storage, IBM Backup Storage, and Metadata Management.
  • Use Limitation: Licensee’s license to the listed programs is only available for first-time Cloud Pak purchases and terminates 12 calendar months after Licensee’s initial purchase of entitlements to the Program, or upon the termination or expiration of the Program to the extent such termination or expiration occurs prior to 12 months after initial purchase. Upon termination of the listed programs, Licensee agrees to promptly discontinue use of and destroy all of Licensee’s copies of the listed programs.

Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation Essentials

  • Additional Flat Entitlement: 48 Virtual Processing Cores (VPC)
  • Use Limitation: Licensee’s entitlement to support for the listed program is limited to 6TB usable (18TB raw) capacity. Licensee’s entitlement to support for the listed program terminates 12 calendar months after Licensee’s initial purchase of entitlements to the Program. Upon termination, Licensee agrees that any support Licensee obtains for the Principal Program beyond that period of time, will not include support for the listed program.
Note: This Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation entitlement cannot be used in a managed service environment.

Obtaining Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform

You can use your entitlement for Guardium Insights to install Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform on the environment of your choice. You can download Red Hat OpenShift either from IBM Passport Advantage or directly from the https://access.redhat.com/.

IBM Security QRadar SOAR Orchestration & Automation

Depending on your purchase of Cloud Pak for Security, you can select from following installation options:
  • Install the Orchestration & Automation application on Cloud Pak for Security platform.
  • Install a stand-alone IBM Security QRadar SOAR on a virtual appliance.

To acquire a license key for Orchestration & Automation, SOAR Platform, or SOAR Platform Breach Response, send an email to q1pd@us.ibm.com and include the following information in your request:

  • IBM Customer Number (IBM Content Navigator)
  • Site ID or your Proof of Entitlement (POE)

If you choose to install Orchestration & Automation, you must have a license key to access its capabilities. After the Cloud Pak for Security installation, you must install the Orchestration & Automation license. For more information, see Installing the Orchestration & Automation license.

IBM QRadar

You must have a license key to access IBM QRadar event analytics or QRadar flow analytics capabilities.

To acquire a license key, contact q1pd@us.ibm.com and include the following information in your request:

  • IBM Customer Number (ICN).
  • Site ID or your Proof of Entitlement (POE).
  • For QRadar event analytics, include the quantity of Multiple Virtual Storage (MVS™) or Events per Second (EPS) purchased.
  • For QRadar flow analytics, include the quantity of MVS or flows per minute (FPM) purchased.

After the Cloud Pak for Security installation, install the license by following the instructions in the QRadar documentation.

IBM Security Guardium

Guardium Insights does not use license keys.

Cloud Pak for Security

When you purchase an IBM Cloud Pak for Security license, your purchase includes entitlement to Cloud Pak for Security applications and services. For more information, see Solution overview.

Based on your license, you configure your limit in Cloud Pak for Security and monitor your usage against your resource units purchased.

Licensing and usage monitoring

The IBM Cloud Pak for Security account Admin must configure their license limit based on the total purchased resource units. The Admin can then monitor usage in Cloud Pak for Security to stay within license limit and avoid compliance issues with IBM.
