Deleting log files in IBM Security Guardium Key Lifecycle Manager container

When you enable debug logging, the number of log files might increase. You must periodically delete or purge the log files to prevent them from taking too much disk space.

About this task

Automatic log rotation occurs after 100 log files. Every log file name has the container ID appended to it. Here is the format of a log file: sklm.container_IDdate-time_stamp.log.file number

For example, sklm.23e8c4afb31c20210427114850.log.0.

If the container restarts, the container ID changes, which causes the log files to be created from 0 again, leading to increase in the number of files. You can periodically check the logs directory on your volume, and delete the older files or the files that you do not want to retain.

Procedure

  1. Go to the directory in the Volume (persistent storage) that contains the log files.
    cd GKLM_volume/sklm/logs
  2. Delete the log files.
