Adding a user

Use the User Management page to add a user in IBM Security Guardium Key Lifecycle Manager. Depending on the functions that you want the user to perform, assign it the associated roles or groups.

Before you begin

Enable the LDAP authentication option to add an LDAP user or LDAP group. For more information, see Configuring LDAP-based user authentication.

Procedure

  1. Access the User Management page.
    1. Log in to the graphical user interface by using your credentials.
    2. Click User Management.
      The Users page opens that displays a list of the users and LDAP groups along with their assigned roles and groups.
  2. Click Add.
    The Add User Assignment window is displayed.
  3. Click the User Name tab to add a file-based user, an LDAP user, or an LDAP group.
    LDAP user
    1. Select Select LDAP user.
    2. Specify the user name and click Search.
    3. From the search results, select the LDAP user.
    4. Click Select.
    LDAP group
    1. Select Select LDAP group.
    2. Specify the group name and click Search.
      Note: Ensure that the group name does not contain the special characters except period (.), space ( ), and underscore (_).
    3. From the search results, select the group.
    4. Click Select.
    File-based user
    1. To create a file-based user, select Create file-based user.
    2. Specify a user name, password, and conform the password in the respective fields.
    3. Click Create.
  4. Assign a role to the user.
    1. When you create a file-based user, select an LDAP user, or LDAP group, the Assign Roles tab is selected.
    2. From the list of roles, select the roles that you want to assign. For more information about a role, you can review its tooltip.
    3. Click Save.
  5. Assign a group to the user.
    1. Click the Assign Groups tab.
    2. From the list of groups, select the group that you want to assign. For more information about a group, you can review its tooltip.
    3. Click Save.
  6. Click Exit.
    The user is added to the IBM Security Guardium Key Lifecycle Manager server.
