Synchronizing Multi-Master cluster configuration

Use the IBM Security Guardium Key Lifecycle Manager graphical user interface to determine whether the HADR cluster configuration information in any of the master servers of the cluster is out of sync. If the cluster configuration information is out of sync, you can easily sync the information from the graphical user interface.

About this task

The cluster configuration details of a master server can be out of sync in the following scenario:

A new master server is added or removed from the cluster when the master server is offline or unreachable. When the master server restarts, it does not have information about any newly added or removed master server, and hence, goes out of sync.

Procedure

  1. Determine whether the cluster configuration information in the master server is out of sync.
    1. Log in to the IBM Security Guardium Key Lifecycle Manager graphical user interface.
    2. In the Multi-Master section, check the Status column for all the master servers of the cluster. A master server with out of sync cluster configuration is indicated by a red status.
  2. Sync the cluster configuration of the master server:
    1. In the IBM Security Guardium Key Lifecycle Manager graphical user interface, click Administration > Multi-Master. The Multi-Master Configuration page opens. In the master servers table, for the master server that has an out of sync cluster configuration, the Cluster configuration column displays a Red status
    2. Select the master server to be synced, and click Sync Cluster Configuration.

The background Sync service runs and updates the cluster configuration details of the master server.

    3. After some time, refresh the Multi-Master Configuration page. The status of the Cluster Configuration column for that master server is updated to Green.
