Splitting assets

Splitting involves breaking down of an asset into multiple assets to suit the specific needs of the data analysis and management processes of your organization. You can split an asset when it is hosted on multiple IP addresses or on multiple hostnames (or both). You can also split merged assets with different databases that are hosted on the same IP address or hostname.

Procedure

1. Click Assets > Databases in the main menu () at the upper left of the page.
2. On the Databases page, click the merge icon ().
3. Based on the defined conditions, the assets that are eligible for merging or splitting are displayed in the Merge or split assets page. Select the asset that you want to split and select Split. The Split option is enabled only when the selected asset is eligible for splitting.
4. Click Next.
5. From the list of assets that are ready for split, select the assets, and click Next.
6. Review the details to verify that the correct assets are selected for splitting. You can rename the destination assets. Complete the following steps to rename a destination asset.
   1. Hover on the destination asset name and click the edit icon ().
   2. Specify a new name for the asset and click the confirm icon ().
7. Click Save.

What to do next

On the Databases page, you can view the destination assets that are split from the original asset. Click the asset ID link for the destination asset to view more information.
