This book contains descriptions of and provides help with the informational, warning, error, severe, and unrecoverable messages from the above licensed programs, and where appropriate, offers advice on fixing the problem that caused the message to be issued.

This book does not provide help with other GDDM messages, in particular, those for GDDM/graPHIGS; see topic 1.1.9.

The first three programs in the above list are known by the term "GDDM Base."

GDDM abend codes are described in the GDDM Diagnosis book.

Who this book is for

The GDDM Messages book is for anyone who receives a GDDM message while using GDDM or any of its utilities.

What you need to know

This book assumes a basic knowledge of the program that issued the message.

How to use this book

When you get a message, first check the alphabetic characters of the identifier; these tell you from which part of GDDM the message originates. The identifiers are defined in "General format" in topic 1.1.1. They indicate where in this book you can find the message described.

Then check the number of the message; the messages are listed in numeric order for each part of GDDM.

Terms used in this book

The term personal computer system means any member of the IBM Personal Computer family, including the Personal System/2 family, unless stated otherwise.

| The term MVS means MVS/ESA

| The term VM includes VM/ESA and the VM/ESA 370 Feature

| The term VSE means VSE/ESA
