Installing Backup & Restore on the hosted cluster

From the IBM Fusion hub cluster, install Backup & Restore on the hosted cluster with Fusion Data Foundation as the storage type.

Before you begin

  • Install IBM Fusion consumer and Fusion Data Foundation storage type.
  • The label isf.ibm.com/fusion-base is required before you add fusion-backup label.
  • If a specific storageclass is to be used during Backup & Restore installation, then do the following:
    1. Go to the OpenShift Console.
    2. In the IBM Fusion namespace, locate the configmap, "fusion-addon-config".
    3. Add an entry:
      backup-storage-class-name: "NameOfStorageClass"
      backup-storage-class-name: ocs-storagecluster-ceph-rbd

If this is not filled, the Backup & Restore installation makes use of the default storage class on the hosted cluster, prioritizing a storage class with a volume snapshot class.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the OpenShift® Container Platform web console of the IBM Fusion hub, and select All clusters.
  2. Go to Infrastructure > Clusters.
The Clusters page is displayed and the Cluster list tab is open by default.
  3. Go through the list of the associated clusters and their details.
  4. You can click the name value link of the cluster to view more information.
In the cluster details page, the Overview tab is open by default.
  5. In the Overview tab page, edit the Labels to include isf.ibm.com/fusion-backup, and click Save.
Use the default storage class that got created as a part of the Data Foundation for Backup & Restore.

Use the Backup & Restore to protect your applications but not the entire cluster.
