Describes the supported storage deployment options available in the IBM Fusion user interface,
including Fusion Data Foundation local, dynamic, and external
modes, and Global Data Platform.
In the
Services page of the
IBM Fusion user interface, you can see only
the services that can be deployed on the cluster. It is based on your current storage configuration.
The different storage installation combinations are as follows:
Note: The
Global Data Platform remote mount capability
is available only for the following deployment modes:
- Standalone rack with Global Data Platform storage ( newly
installed with IBM Fusion 2.10.0 or
later)
- Standalone rack with FDF ( upgraded to IBM Fusion 2.10.0 or later / newly installed
with IBM Fusion 2.10.0 or later)

local, dynamic, or external modes. For the installation procedure, see Installing Fusion Data Foundation.
Fusion Data Foundation service with Global Data Platform
The deployment method for Global Data Platform depends on
the installed version of Red Hat® OpenShift® Container Platform in your
environment. The supported deployment methods are as follows:
Table 1. Global Data Platform deployment methods
| Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform version |
Deployment method |
| 4.21 or later |
- Install Fusion Data Foundation version 4.21 or later in
local, dynamic, or external modes. For instructions, see Installing Fusion Data Foundation.
Important: The Fusion Data Foundation
version 4.21 or later supports configuration with IBM Storage Scale.
-
After Fusion Data Foundation is installed successfully
and the service is in a healthy state, go to Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform web console, to configure Fusion Data Foundation with IBM Storage Scale. For
instructions, see Configuring with IBM Storage Scale.
- In the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform web console, go to
and
verify the status of the pods in the
ibm-spectrum-scale project. In a fresh
installation, the deployment is expected to be scaled down to zero.
