Enabling automatic capacity scaling
Enable automatic capacity scaling on the Fusion Data Foundation cluster configured with dynamic storage devices to ensure seamless scaling to meet demand.
Before you begin
- You are logged in to the Red Hat® OpenShift® Container Platform web console as an administrator.
- Fusion Data Foundation service is installed and configured.
Important: IBM Cloud 10 IOPS-tier workloads are not supported.
About this task
When automatic capacity scaling is enabled, additional raw capacity equivalent to the configured deployment size is automatically added to the cluster when the used capacity reaches 70%. This ensures your Fusion Data Foundation cluster scales seamlessly to meet demand.
This option is disabled in lean profile mode, local mode, and external mode deployment.
Important: Enabling automatic capacity scaling may incur additional costs for the
underlying storage.
Procedure
- Go to .
- Click the Storage Systems tab.
- Click the Action menu (⋮) next to the storage cluster where you want to enable automatic capacity scaling.
- Select Automatic capacity scaling.
- On the Automatic capacity scaling page, select the Enable automatic capacity scaling for your cluster checkbox.
- Set the cluster expansion limit from the drop-down list. This defines the maximum capacity that the cluster can expand to in the cloud. Automatic scaling is suspended once this limit is reached.
- Click Save changes.
