Critical state of the node indicates that node is in the verge of failure, immediate attention is required. The reason might be the failure of any of the following hardware components:

Cooling devices
Power modules
Local storage
Processors
Memory
System

It is recommended not to start the node firmware upgrade until node status turns healthy.
