Creating an IAM user using the object browser

Learn how to create IAM users for object storage access using the object browser.

Before you begin

  • Administrators: Administrator access to IBM Fusion Data Foundation.
  • Developers: Logged in to the object browser using secret namespace and secret name. For more information see Accessing the object browser.
  • Ensure that the selected storage endpoint (MCG or RGW) is deployed and its pods are healthy.

Procedure

  1. In the OpenShift Web Console, navigate to Storage > Object Storage.
  2. From the Storage endpoint selector, choose MCG or RGW.
  3. Click the IAM tab.
  4. Click Create User.
  5. Enter the required details in the Create User form.
    After the user is created, a window appears prompting you to download the secret key.
  6. Click Download secret key, or copy the key and store it securely.
    Note:
    • When a new IAM user is created, an inline policy permitting S3 operations is generated automatically.
    • Access keys are also created automatically as part of the user creation workflow. No manual configuration is required.
