Storage deployment combinations

The supported storage deployment options are Global Data Platform local, Global Data Platform remote mount, Fusion Data Foundation provider mode, and Data Foundation with MCG only.

In the Services page of the IBM Fusion user interface, you can see only the services that can be deployed on the cluster. It is based on your current storage configuration. The different storage installation combinations are as follows:
Note: The Global Data Platform remote mount capability is available only for the following deployment modes:
  • Standalone rack with Global Data Platform storage ( newly installed with IBM Fusion 2.10.0)
  • Standalone rack with FDF ( upgraded to IBM Fusion 2.10.0 / newly installed with IBM Fusion 2.10.0)

Fusion Data Foundation service on IBM Fusion

Install Fusion Data Foundation on provider mode. For the installation procedure, see Installing Fusion Data Foundation.

Fusion Data Foundation service with Global Data Platform remote mount

  1. Install Fusion Data Foundation on provider mode.
  2. From the Available section of the Services page, install Global Data Platform remote mount. To know more about the remote mount, see Connecting to remote IBM Storage Scale file systems. The Global Data Platform remote mount is available only IBM Fusion HCI for with Fusion Data Foundation. Ensure the previous step is complete before you start this step.
  3. After the installation of Global Data Platform completes successfully and the service is in healthy state, go to Storage > Remote file systems and add remote file systems. For more information about the procedure to add file systems, see Remote IBM Storage Scale storage cluster in IBM Fusion.

Global Data Platform service

  1. Install Global Data Platform local. For the procedure to install, see Installing Global Data Platform.
  2. Configure Global Data Platform. For the procedure to configure, see Configuring Global Data Platform local storage.

Global Data Platform service with MCG only

  1. Install Global Data Platform local. For the procedure to install, see Installing Global Data Platform.

    Multi-Cloud Gateway (MCG) in Global Data Platform is an on-prem deployment. If the Global Data Platform ECE is installed, then you can see the MCG tile for it.

  2. Configure Global Data Platform. For the procedure to configure, see Configuring Global Data Platform local storage.
  3. Go to the Services page and install Data Foundation with MCG only from the Available section. For the procedure to install, see Installing Data Foundation for MCG only.
