Administering the service node

Administering the service node in the system includes day-to-day operations such as monitoring the health, performing power operations, collecting logs, and doing firmware updates whenever it is available.

View service node details

  1. From the IBM Fusion HCI user interface, click Infrastructure > Overview page.
  2. Click the service node that is placed at RU23, close to the optional KVM service console.

    It opens a Service node slide out pane.

  3. Click view full details to see Service node page that includes the front, rear, and internal graphical views, recent events, and other details of the service node and its internal components.

Download service node logs

  1. In the service node details page, click Actions > Download logs to download the logs of the service node.
  2. In the confirmation window, click Collect.

Power operations on the service node

Power operations on a node server, such as powering on, powering off, or restarting, are crucial for maintenance, troubleshooting, system recovery.

Power on and power off operations on a service node:
  1. In the service node details page, click Actions > Power off or Power on to power off or power on the service node respectively.
  2. In the confirmation window, select Power off node to shut down and Power on node to start up.
Restart operations on a service node
  1. From the Actions drop-down menu, click Restart to restart the service node.
  2. In the confirmation window, click Restart node.
