Installing Global Data Platform remote mount on the hosted cluster

From the IBM Fusion HCI hub cluster, install Global Data Platform remote mount on the hosted cluster so that applications can provision storage from a remote-mounted filesystem. It allows you to utilize a label-based approach for configuration of IBM Storage Scale CNSA cluster, similar to existing services.

Before you begin

About this task

You can have a Data Foundation client alongside the CNSA remote service. The Backup & Restore service can be installed with remote-mounted filesystems and it can protect workloads using storage from remote-mounted filesystems.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the OpenShift® Container Platform web console of the IBM Fusion consumer cluster.
  2. Go to Operators > Installed operators.
  3. Check whether the IBM Fusion consumer mode cluster is installed.
The Status changes from Installing to Succeeded.
  4. On the hub cluster, go back to the cluster details > Overview tab page and edit the Labels to include isf.ibm.com/fusion-gdp-rm, and click Save.
Alternatively, you can edit the label from the hub cluster by using the following oc command:
Add label isf.ibm.com/fusion-gdp-rm to the hosted control plan clusters on hub to auto install IBM Fusion consumer cluster:
    oc label managedcluster <consumer_cluster_name> isf.ibm.com/fusion-gdp-rm=''
  5. Go to the IBM Fusion consumer cluster user interface and open the Services page.
The Global Data Platform remote mount starts to install automatically. If it does not, then refresh and wait for five to ten minutes.
  6. Wait for the Global Data Platform remote mount installation to complete.
A notification is displayed confirming the success of the installation.
  7. To backup applications on your hosted plan cluster, see Backup & Restore of applications in Hosted Control Plane clusters.
