Opening a message

You can perform actions on a message directly in the message list, or after opening the message. If you are authorized to work with a message, the action Open is displayed in the pop-up menu. Select this action if you need to see the message content, context information, history, or the user comment. Open presents the message in an update mode, and sets a lock that prevents other users from opening that message at the same time. The kind of update that is possible depends on the queue purpose. Regardless of the queue purpose, you can edit the user comment in the context view. On a Create or Edit queue, you can also edit the message content and submit it. On an Authorize or Confirm queue, you can accept or reject the message as it is. On a Retype queue, you have to retype some fields of the message to accept it. On a Display queue, you can submit the message as it is. See Table 1 for a summary of the standard actions for each queue purpose. If custom actions are configured for a queue, you can also perform these custom actions on the opened message. The actions for an opened message are displayed as a row of buttons at the bottom of the screen, as shown in Figure 2 or Figure 1.

If you do not need to see the message content or other information mentioned previously, you can perform most actions on a message directly from the message list. All available actions are displayed in the pop-up menu, as shown in Figure 1. For Submit, Accept, Reject, and custom actions, you can use the dialog shown in Figure 2 to enter a comment.

For each message on which you perform the action, the comment you enter is added to the beginning of any existing comment. When you open one of those messages, the combined comment is shown in the context view, as shown in Figure 3.
